Brigada Kalikasan
Continuous and heavy rainfall hitting the Philippines has triggered massive flooding in Manila and nearby provinces, displacing more than 260,000 people and killing dozens. This is on top of the typhoon Gener’s previous death toll of 49 and damage to properties estimated at P340 million.
Filipinos affected by the floods in Metro Manila, Quezon City, Marikina, Pasig and other nearby provinces now urgently need material and moral support. After rescue operations, communities should have prompt access to basic needs such as food, shelter and dry clothing, as well as medical services for flood-borne diseases, such as leptospirosis, diarrhea and cholera.
Let us gather as many donations as possible—whether in cash or in kind, from people, institutions, schools and churches—and convene volunteers to help pack, deliver and distribute relief goods to affected areas, integrate with the victims and express solidarity with them.
